Description: Depending on the situation and level of escalation, staff may be successful in redirecting the individual and diffusing the situation with Non-verbal and Para-verbal prompts. This course focuses on two of the lesser restrictive types of interventions: 1.) How staff can use non-verbal cues and signals to re-direct behavior. 2.) How staff can use their tone, rate and volume of voice to potentially diffuse an escalated situation.
